VOTE "YES" ON THE FEBRUARY 7th ELECTION!

Our community is worth more than a pizza!

The election is three weeks away and we urge community members to educate themselves before deciding which way they will vote.  The facility will cost approximately 12 million dollars and will offer something for every age group.  Please visit THE PLAN (click on this link, 3.7 MB download) to see the details - and click on Frequently Asked Questions to hit the hot spots and discover what will be available.

Yes, your taxes will increase.  For the average $ 200,000 dollar home, the taxes will raise between $6.33 to $8.00 dollars per month.  This is less than the cost of a large pizza.

THE FACILITY:

INDOOR SWIMMING POOL, MEETING ROOMS,  ICE SKATING RINK, and WALKING TRACK

The Sandpoint Centre Corporation was formed in 1999 for the sole purpose of constructing a multi-use facility for local residents.  We are a 501c3 Corporation, thus all donations are tax deductible.  Board members are all local residents and have operated solely as volunteers.

The Facility will be utilized year-round with an indoor community swimming pool and meeting rooms, as well as a 1200 seat ice arena.  The goal of this facility is to offer SOMETHING for EVERYONE.  We will offer programs and opportunities for the very young, our children, adults, and seniors.  We believe that ALL ages must be included in a facility such as this.

The swimming pool will have a shallow water-park area for small children, deeper lanes for swimming laps and for competitions, and an area for all-age swimming lessons and for water-aerobic classes for all ages.  We will have family and open swim times so that everyone can utilize this community facility.  During the after-school period we will have open swim for kids (for free) and adults alike.

The ice skating rink will focus on family skating; especially during the after-school period (for free), as well as figure skating, youth hockey, and adult hockey programs.  Ice shows and hockey games will provide activities even for those who do not skate. During the summer months, the rink can be used for roller skating, large shows (such as Lost in the 50's and the Arts and Crafts Fair), concerts, teen dances, and private rentals.

Also included in Phase 1 of this project will be meeting rooms for use by local community groups and private businesses, as well as by an outreach program for our youth.

An indoor walking track will allow local residents snow and ice-free opportunities to exercise on a regular basis.

Future Phases may include: basketball and volleyball courts, tennis courts, indoor soccer, or a walking track.  Decisions on additions will be based on public feedback.

The Centre will be run as a non-profit facility for the community, thus prices will be based upon the costs of maintenance and operation. This is to ensure equal access to all members of our community regardless of financial situation.  The primary goal is for an affordable FAMILY FACILITY.
